Early Head Start and Child Care Partnership

The Early Head Start/Child Care Partnership Summer Seminar, held in June 2002, was sponsored by the Office of Head Start and Child Care Bureau. The goal of the Partnership Summer Seminar was to raise awareness of the value and potential of Child Care partnerships with Early Head Start and Migrant Seasonal Head Start programs, and to enhance comprehensive services through local partnerships.

The partnership teams were made up of representatives from the Head Start programs, the child care program, parents, the State Child Care Administrator, the Head Start-State/Tribal/Migrant Collaboration Director, the Head Start and Child Care Regional Office Specialists, a Training and Technical Assistance (T & TA) provider, and up to 3 additional community team members.

The Early Head Start/Child Care Partnership Summer Seminar provided the partnership teams with the opportunity to work with each other exploring ideas and solutions; to design the community partnership plans; to work to strengthen the roles of families, enhance early literacy, and ensure comprehensive services in communities; and to address and implement the priority areas of the Administration for Children and Families - early literacy, fatherhood, healthy marriage, rural communities, faith and community-based services, positive youth development, prevention, and welfare reform.
