Early
Head Start National Orientation Training
The Orientation Training is offered to new Early Head Start (EHS)
grantees, Head Start grantees that have recently been funded to
expand to birth to five programs, and existing EHS programs that
have received expansion funds to increase their EHS services. The
training is specifically designed for administrative staff and governing
body members (e.g., Grantee/Delegate Executive Director, Board Chair,
Policy Council Chair, or EHS Director) who are responsible for oversight
of the development and implementation of the Early Head Start program.
Attendees will:
- Discuss expectations
of the National Head Start Bureau
- Hear lessons
learned during the earliest years of the EHS initiative
- Receive information
on the unique aspects of Head Start/Early Head Start programs
such as shared decision making with parents (program governance)
- Learn about
key resources available to support programs during this planning
year
- Have opportunities
to network and refine planning for new and expansion programs
- Understand
key differences between services for preschoolers and their families
offered in Head Start programs and services for pregnant women,
infants, toddlers and their families offered in Early Head Start
programs
