A successful breastfeeding program begins with you! Some staff are very comfortable with supporting breastfeeding. Some staff have had no experience with it. For some, just talking about breastfeeding can feel uncomfortable. Many staff fed their own children formula or started breastfeeding, but didn't continue. Many grew up in families where mothers did not breastfeed their children. Yet all staff have an important role in breastfeeding promotion. You have an opportunity to share the facts about breastfeeding with families, and to help them make the decisions that are best for them and their babies.
