The National Resource for Family Centered Practice
Family Based Job Descriptions
Developed under the auspices of the Children’s Bureau, Administration for Children Youth and Families, Office of Human
Development Services, Department of Health and Human Services (1986).
The National Resource Center on Family Based Services compiled a manual of job descriptions for family-based service positions. The Center
solicited the position descriptions from public and private family-based programs throughout the country. The manual does not critique or comment
on the submissions, and is designed so that a position description can be pulled out and reproduced (permission is not necessary). The variety of
positions contained in the manual include social workers, family service workers, family therapists, paraprofessionals, supervisors, and
administrators.
