Expert Work Group

Purpose of the Expert Work Group:

The Expert Work Group has been convened to offer recommendations to the Office of Head Start on current and future issues that impact the overall EHS program. These issues generally cluster around the following three areas:

  • Program Design issues in light of continued program expansion;
  • Challenges and successes as EHS programs mature over time; and
  • Impact of major new findings or legislation concerning young children and families in poverty.

Expert Work Group Responsibilities:

Meetings are facilitated by the Office of Head Start and the EHS NRC. In carrying out the stated purpose, members will be asked to engage in the following activities:

  • Meet on a twice annual basis in Washington DC area.
  • Provide direction and assistance in addressing challenges that confront the EHS program.
  • Advise the Office of Head Start on emerging national trends that potentially impact the EHS program.
  • Participate in rapid response activities (e.g., listserv inquires or conference calls) to assist the HSB in addressing time-sensitive issues.
  • Generate ideas that lead to proactive enhancement of the EHS program.
